On Thursday, 26 June 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court judged (5-4) that gay ‘marriage’ be conducted in all the 50 states in the U.S.A. The decision of the Supreme Court runs counter to the truth of marriage. In the plan of the creator, male and female he created them, (Gen. 1:27) with a plan of involving them to continue the generation of people. (Gen. 1:28) God blessed them saying: “Be fertile and multiply.” Through the ages of human history this command of God is carried out through marriage (between one man and one woman) and maintaining the family that consists of Father, Mother and Children.
Marriage between a man and a woman is the only institution that, by its nature, is able to accomplish a healthy family life and establish a healthy society. We are already experiencing the consequences of wrong laws and procedures, written and unwritten, like legalized abortions, artificial birth-control, which lead to breakdown of the family, widespread divorce, single parenthood, and cohabitation. All children have the basic right and need to be raised by their natural parents in a stable, loving home. Redefining the natural institution of marriage will not serve to improve their lives any more than abortion improves the lives of frightened women in difficult situations.
I know only two kinds of people – male and female. That is what I learned from the Bible too. That is what I experienced in my parents too. I can’t think of them being something else. Two men or two women can’t have a baby. They can’t produce the next generation of people.
Jesus taught unambiguously that from the beginning marriage is the life long union of one man and one woman, and as Catholics our faith invites us to embrace this truth inscribed in our bodies as male and female.
Should we be adjusting God’s law to accommodate our whims and fancies, and financial benefits? Do we have to replace God with our earthly gods?
